Watershed Work Week

Watershed work crew

September 16 - 20, 2026
Wednesday 6 pm (dinner) – Sunday noon (lunch)
Led by Carolyn Cavanagh, Land Advocate

Each year, a week in mid-September is devoted to caring for the Green Gulch Farm watershed. This special week is made possible by volunteers who stay in the guest house, meditate, eat, and socialize with the community and each other. There is no charge for this as it is in exchange for helping us with the many projects that would not get done otherwise.

Watershed work at Green Gulch Farm The Watershed Work Week is a wonderful time to be at Green Gulch Farm, allowing participants to recharge and reconnect through time spent in nature and meditation. In exchange for labor and help in caring for our 115-acre valley, volunteers receive accommodation in our guest house and all meals at no charge, and are warmly invited to join formal practice in the meditation hall (instruction provided.)

Particularly appreciated are people who enjoy active outdoor work but anyone who is willing to get dirty and work hard is welcome, as long as there is space. Commitment for the full week is preferred and will be given priority. People with special skills will also be given priority. The work day is from 8:30 am to 4 pm with an hour for lunch.

The projects for the week have not yet been set and will depend on the skillset of the participants. Confirmation may not be available until the latter part of August; all efforts will be made to best accommodate the needs of participants.

For Questions and to Register: Please email Carolyn Cavanagh at garden@sfzc.org and include any specific skills you may have that would be helpful.
