Tassajara

Information regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19):
As we navigate this quickly changing situation, the health and safety of our guests and residents remains our primary concern. Tassajara will be following the recommendations of the Monterey County Health Department when making decisions regarding COVID-19 and we may have to go above and beyond those recommendations given the unique situation that Tassajara presents.

Please check the SFZC blog regularly for updates.

Zenshinji (Zen Heart-Mind Temple) is located in central California, in a remote valley in the heart of the Ventana Wilderness area of the Los Padres National Forest. It is the oldest Sōtō Zen Buddhist training monastery in the United States, founded in 1967 by the late Zen teacher Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Closed to visitors during the fall and winter months, in late spring and summer Tassajara is opened to day and overnight guests.
