Tassajara

Information regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19):

Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, Tassajara will be closed for the months of May, June, and July. We know that for all concerned this is a big disappointment and it’s the most effective way to ensure the health and welfare of our temple residents, yourselves, and retreat leaders. We are working hard to transition some of our retreats to an online format. Please check the calendar page for updates.

We hope that you and your loved ones are staying healthy and connected during the Covid-19 pandemic. We at San Francisco Zen Center are monitoring the situation closely, both on the national and state levels, and locally with health department officials. Please check the SFZC blog regularly for updates.

Zenshinji (Zen Heart-Mind Temple) is located in central California, in a remote valley in the heart of the Ventana Wilderness area of the Los Padres National Forest. It is the oldest Sōtō Zen Buddhist training monastery in the United States, founded in 1967 by the late Zen teacher Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Closed to visitors during the fall and winter months, in late spring and summer Tassajara is opened to day and overnight guests.
