This page is for Part I: Stillness in Effort, in which we will explore the earth and water elements in practice.

The meditative body-mind engages in practice on a spectrum between activity and stillness. Both the Buddha Shakyamuni and the yogis of old offered teachings on how to practice across this spectrum. These practices develop balance, stability and ease, stillness and silence.

Part I: Stillness in Effort, May 10-31 (please register below)
Part II: Effort in Stillness June 7-28 (separate registration)

Each 4-class series will offer mind-body practices from both traditions to support meditation, providing references from the written traditions of each. The series can be taken individually or in sequence.

Preparation:
Set up a quiet space with a Yoga mat, 2 Yoga blocks, 1 Yoga strap, 3 or more blankets, a sturdy chair and a meditation cushion. If you do not have Yoga props or a meditation cushion, we may improvise.

Recordings
All course sessions will be recorded, and registered participants will receive temporary access to the recordings for later viewing.
