Busshō Description.
What did Eihei Dōgen mean by Buddha Nature? Can it even be discussed given the limitations of language and the primacy of silence as an expression of emptiness in Zen practice? Buddha nature, a seed that sprouts into awakening, the pure essence of reality that underlies the conventional world, the inherent possibility of enlightenment – these are just a few possibilities. But what is Buddha Nature to us in the 21st century?
Join Tim Wicks, Kim Hart and Dan Gudgel for this series of salon style discussions over tea on Dōgen’s Busshō, Buddha Nature – a fascicle from his Shōbōgenzō collection. These meetings will have brief presentations followed by group conversations.
