The heroic bodhisattva practices of the paramitas protect and nurture our intention to find a kind response to the world of suffering, and, simultaneously, they open us to the realization of perfect wisdom that liberates all beings.—Tenshin Reb Anderson, Entering the Mind of Buddha

Eight Tuesdays, July 9–August 27, 5–6:30 pm PT

The Pāramitās are the transcendent trainings of a bodhisattva, a traditional Mahāyāna Buddhist teaching. Together we will explore each Pāramitā through readings and discussion, and physical practices (āsanas) drawn from the Yoga tradition which will form a sequence that can be practiced by participants.

Please wear comfortable clothing for this class. It is helpful to have a zafu (round meditation cushion), support cushions (if you have them), two blankets, and a yoga strap or belt. A chair or a seiza bench can be used instead of a zafu.

July 9: Introduction to the Pāramitās
July 16: Generosity (Dāna)
July 23: Integrity (Ṡīla)
July 30: Acceptance (Kṣānti)
August 6: Energetic Engagement (Vīrya)
August 13: Open awareness (Dhyāna)
August 20: Wisdom (Prajñā)
August 27: Practice
