This human body has evolved over millions of years and is interconnected through its cells with everything.

This human body is a means, a path — a source of wisdom.  It is the means of all our experiences, be they physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. It is completely inseparable from all aspects of this one life we have been given.

From the moment of its conception, this body is a journey through gestation, birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, and death. It is also the archive of our whole range of experiences. It carries our wounds and scars, as well as the ability to heal them.

The practice of the Buddha Way is a practice of embodiment, requiring us to inhabit our body completely, to be responsive to all aspects of our life, and to take full responsibility for them moment by moment.

It is during this life, here and now, that we have the opportunity to wake up and live in harmony with ourselves and with all beings — a capacity that is urgently needed in these times.

In this class we will be using texts from Zen and other traditions, rituals, mindfulness practices, and trauma healing practices to support our endeavor to become more familiar and intimate with our own body as it is, to learn how to hear and engage its wisdom, and to support its innate ability to heal our wounds.

Please use this page to register for Buddha Body – Buddha Mind with Kiku Christina Lehnherr as a stand-alone class, without the associated Practice Period.

This class is also offered as part of the Winter 2026 City Center Practice Period. The practice period, which includes this class, meditation retreats, and small groups, is open for both in-person (residential) and online/commuter participation.
