Description

In the Conference Center at 308 Page Street

Many ancient texts mention anger as an unwholesome emotion that unbridled can destroy our relationships and our practice. However, anger has a wholesome side: a morally neutral internal feedback system to signal our unmet needs, violated boundaries, and withheld respect.

This day of discussion and practice will bring teachings of the "Genjokoan" and the "Paramitas" to life, focusing on skillful expression of and response to anger: How do we manage the emotional waves that otherwise might push us to react impulsively, with defensiveness or aggression? How do we attend to our anger in ways that do not damage or abuse our love? How do we safely and kindly wield our anger as a tool to cut through delusion and habit, deepening our love?

The schedule is as follows:

10:00 Lecture: "The Challenge of Anger", "The Power of the Paramitas"
11:00 Q&A: "Attending to Anger with Equanimity"
11:30 Lunch Break
2:00 Workshop: "How to Show Anger While Maintaining Lovingkindness"
5:00 End of Day

This workshop is also offered online.

Please bring your own vegetarian bagged lunch.
