The three-day online Rohatsu Sesshin commemorates Buddha's enlightenment and closes the Fall Practice Period. Sesshins are traditional Soto Zen meditation retreats that include Dharma talks, sitting and walking meditation, and the opportunity for group practice discussion sessions. This online sesshin coincides with the final three days of the in-person sesshin.
The Rohatsu Sesshin will be offered through the Online Practice Center and will be geared towards supporting those who are participating at home. In addition to sitting and walking meditation and online service, there will be Dharma talks on Thursday and Friday morning, and a group practice discussion session with a teacher on Friday afternoon. The evening schedule on Thursday and Friday will include zazen after dinner, and will close with chanting the Refuges with the in-person community. On Saturday, the schedule will end in the early afternoon.
We ask those who attend sesshin to commit to participating in the schedule as completely as possible. To support busy schedules, we offer the option to purchase single-day tickets (please indicate which day you want to sit in the registration form). If you have questions regarding the schedule, please consult with the director of the Online Practice Center via email (dan.gudgel@sfzc.org) before completing your registration.
