This gentle one-day sitting will begin mid-morning to allow participants coming from outside Green Gulch to join more easily.
We'll begin at 9am and follow the traditional forms of zazen (seated meditation) and kinhin (walking meditation), along with silent walking in the garden in the afternoon.
There will be a dharma talk in the morning, and lunch will be held in silence in the dining room. All participants are also welcome to join the Green Gulch community for dinner in the dining room at 6:00 pm, after the sitting.
Devoting this day to sitting together offers a chance to step outside the busyness and noise of everyday life, resettle, and clarify what's most important.
If you are new to Green Gulch or Zen forms, an orientation will be held at 8:15 am. Please plan on arriving at Green Gulch by 8:00 am to have time to find your way to the zendo for instruction.
If you have any questions regarding the schedule, guidelines, or your eligibility for the One-Day Sitting, please consult with the head of the meditation hall (ino) at ggfino@sfzc.org before completing your registration.
