Called in Japanese Fukuden-kai, a gathering for sewing the robe which is called a “field of blessings,” this retreat will be devoted to sewing Buddha’s robe and sitting zazen.
This retreat is open to all students who have been given permission by their teachers to sew a rakusu and/or an okesa.
Participants are encouraged to join the temple community for the morning program beginning with zazen at 5:40 am (han starts at 5:25 am) through work circle at 9 am. Then there is sewing in the sewing room until lunch at 12:30 pm. After a short break, sewing continues until evening zazen at 5:40 pm (han starts at 5:25 pm). After the evening meal at 6:30 pm attendees are invited to optional sewing until 8:30 pm.
Participants are encouraged to join the community for the Wednesday evening Dharma Talk, services, meals, and all periods of zazen.
It is highly recommended to book accommodations and stay in the building during the whole sesshin.
