Kathy Stares

Kathy is a former nurse practitioner with over forty years of clinical experience spanning hospital, community, home care and cross-cultural settings as well as more than a decade of teaching nurses and nurse practitioners at the university level. Now semi-retired and living in a rural community in Nova Scotia, Canada, she offers private home support to older adults and their families, helping elders remain in their homes for as long as they wish and/or are able to do so.

Kathy is a longstanding practitioner of the Tibetan Kagyu and Nyingma lineages who highly values the connections and resonance between the Buddhist teachings and the path of caregiving. Specifically, the teachings on impermanence, interdependence, selflessness and compassion inform her ability to listen deeply, stay present, and also let go.
