Carol Lefevre Genki is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer living in São Paulo, Brazil where she develops and offers her Zen deZenho method. She graduated in architecture and studied drawing and watercolor. When she first encountered Zen she also encountered a familiar feeling that she would experience from childhood/teenage years when drawing and painting.
As a Zen Buddhist practitioner, she began her practice in Brazil in 2006 and had lay ordination in 2009. She came to the United States in 2013 with the purpose of deepening her practice and lived at SFZC for four years, dividing her time between Tassajara and City Center. In 2019 she was the Ino (head of the meditation hall) at City Center. She believes drawing can be a way of experiencing Zen, with contemplation and creativity.
