“When you see forms or hear sounds, fully engaging body-and-mind, you grasp things directly.” –Dogen’s Genjo Koan

Spring brings an astonishing show of wildflowers to the wilderness landscape surrounding Tassajara. Mountain and valley birds engage in exuberant courtship and territorial display. We will investigate our surroundings through intimate looking, learning the names of what we see; opening ourselves to scent, shape, song, and call; and enjoying the whole body–mind experience of immersing ourselves in the surrounding wilderness.

We will meet for morning bird watching, an evening of star-viewing, and dharma talks. Throughout we will cultivate our awareness and contemplate our place in this cycle of constant change.
