Buddhism teaches that our lives are bound by karma (intentional action). Given this, what is true freedom? How do we discover who we truly are and then live that realization with confidence and compassion? What is meant by personal and collective transformation, and how might we harness the power of awareness to courageously manifest it?  And how do we stay present, open-hearted, and embodied amidst the myriad crises and challenges unfolding within and around us?

Join Caverly Morgan and SFZC Abbot Tenzen David Zimmerman as they explore these questions and more in an engaging dialogue intersecting Zen, contemporary nondual teachings, social justice perspectives, and personal wisdom. This conversation serves as a thought-provoking prelude to Caverly’s upcoming six-week online course (March 25 - April 29) through SFZC delving into her book, The Heart of Who We Are: Realizing Freedom Together.

During our time together we will also learn about how Caverly’s book evolved out of her spiritual journey and insights, and be introduced to five essential contemplative life skills: Relating, Dismantling, Inquiring, Returning, and Realizing. In Caverly’s spring offering, we’ll be taking a deep dive into these life skills, all within the context of what she describes as “relational dharma.”

You are invited to this conversation which promises to be rich and infused with a love of truth and liberation shared by both Caverly and David.
