When you are you, Zen is Zen
– Shunryu Suzuki Roshi
Along with mindfulness and tools from contemporary psychology, we’ll explore how to cultivate self-acceptance in a way that also quiets the voices of self-criticism and judgment. And since the Buddha famously taught “no self,” we’ll also have some fun unpacking what that means in relation to self-acceptance.
This series is open to anyone who feels they will benefit from these teachings. The TDA practice group community is committed to living in the present moment, less affected by reactivity, rumination and worry. Living this way is one of the most powerful antidotes to lowered and agitated moods, and to see what is good in our lives.
Led by Jisho Lisa Beth Hoffman, each class will include a brief guided meditation, a short TDA-Buddhist teaching, discussion, and a closing guided meditation.
We request that you prepare for the group, and there are two easy options:
- Take the self-paced online course Befriending Your Pain, taught by the late Dr. Lee Lipp, who created the TDA-FE offerings, and was a wise and delightful teacher.
- Read The Mindful Way Through Depression, which Dr. Lipp used in designing the TDA offerings.

All course sessions will be recorded, and registered participants will receive temporary access to the recordings for later viewing.
