Description

According to the Buddha, “You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is to be found nowhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”

Zen practice and 12-step recovery both invite us to transform guilt and shame into connection and compassion. Each encourages an honest, loving review of our thoughts, words, and actions wherein we take responsibility, make amends, and create change. At their heart, both paths cultivate self-compassion and help dismantle self-loathing and negative self-talk.

This day-long retreat will include silent and walking meditation, brief Dharma talks exploring the 12 Steps and the Bodhisattva Precepts as tools for healing, and opportunities for creative writing and storytelling. Participants may share or simply listen, as they wish.

This day-long practice invites us to return to the body as a vital part of spiritual life, recovery, and healing. All bodies and minds are welcome. We will move in ways that are accessible, respectful, and grounded in both safety and joy. If there is anything that would support your safety, comfort, or participation, please contact the instructor.

Bring a bag  lunch and a water bottle. No other supplies are necessary.
