Inspired by Walk for Peace, a 120-day, 2,300 mile journey through the United States made by a group of Buddhist monks and their dog, SFZC has organized a Peace Walk in San Francisco. Beginning at City Center with a bow-in, the walk will wend its way through the city to Ocean Beach where we will have a closing ceremony and dedicate the merit of our effort to the awakening of all beings.
There is no charge for this event, although we ask that people sign up so that we know how many will attend. We expect the walk to fill up but there will be a waitlist, so be sure to sign up soon.
Rakusu and/or Buddhist robes are encouraged but not necessary.
We are grateful to SFZC priest Shundo Haye who will be leading the walk. Shundo is a former SFZC resident and has been leading mindful walks throughout the Bay Area through Roaming Zen for several years.
"The Walk For Peace itself is not a political movement, nor is it focused on advocacy or legislation. Rather, it is a spiritual offering—an invitation to live peace through everyday actions, mindful steps, and open hearts. We believe that when peace is cultivated within, it naturally ripples outward into society." (from the Walk for Peace Facebook page).

This is a free public event.
