Description

There will be no evening zazen.

Sejiki is a traditional Japanese Zen Buddhist ceremony for the spirits of departed ones. This powerful ceremony summons forth all restless spirits and pacifies agitation and violence within and without. It includes a reading of the names of close friends and family members who have died.

If you would like to have a name included, please call the City Center office at 415.863.3136 by the Friday before the ceremony.

After the ceremony, we will have a Halloween costume dinner. Costumes may be worn to the ceremony.

Children sometimes find the ceremony scary - most people are in costume and there are loud and eerie sounds and chanting. Children are very welcome to attend the ceremony, but please feel free to come a bit later and bring your children to the dinner which will be at about 6:30pm. Dinner is followed by trick-or-treating in the Zen Center buildings on Page Street. Please call the office at 415.863.3136 for more information and to make reservations for dinner.
