Qayyum Johnson was raised in an American Sufi family. He was a farmer at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center for 10 years, where he was Head Student during the 2015 practice period. He writes poetry, makes cast-off sculptures and plays with brushwork, mushroom spores and collage. His practice on & off the meditation cushion are oriented to cultivating somatic kinship with the more-than-human world and learning how to flow freely with presence/absence. He trusts that creativity, authenticity and lovingkindness are transformative medicine.
