San Francisco Zen Center’s Long-term Vision Statement:
We seek to embody diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) throughout San Francisco Zen Center’s teachings, practice, organizational culture, policies, and operations as a manifestation of our vow to awaken together with all beings.
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Accessibility (DEIA) Working Group is focusing on strategies for the next two years that will move San Francisco Zen Center toward this vision.
Current members of DEIA are:
David Zimmerman, City Center Abiding Abbot;
Furyu Schroeder, Green Gulch Farm Abiding Abbess;
Linda Galijan, President;
Eli Brown-Stevenson, Work Practice Director;
Tova Green, Branching Streams Liaison and Acting Secretary;
Joe Rodriguez, DEIA Consultant (past Board member/Chair of the Governance Committee).
The three main areas we are focusing on for the next two years are:
- Creating training related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
- Examining SFZC’s culture and creating strategies to reduce barriers to inclusion
- Creating infrastructure to support ongoing DEIA work
DEIA has formed five working groups to set objectives and key results in the above areas. We will update this page as our work progresses.
