Deep Rest In Zen And Yoga: Learning To Let Go And Be Upright, CC 8/20–8/23

August 20 @ 4:00 pm - August 23 @ 11:00 am
Practice Center: City Center
Date / Time: August 20, 2026 / 4:00pm - August 23, 2026 / 11:00am

Description

Deep Rest is a skill that we all need more of and that we can develop. With regular practice, we can learn how to allow mind and body to readily transition from their everyday activated (sympathetic) state to a parasympathetic mode. Deep Rest is a state of body and mind that is mentally and physically in repose, one that brings balance and ease to our experience of life. Entering Deep Rest, one experiences a profound stillness that is sustained without strain, one that supports the cultivation of meditative tranquility.

In this Deep Rest Retreat, we will practice letting go in Restorative Yoga postures, expand our breathing practice in pranayama (yogic breathing), and explore how to support deep rest as we practice the posture of upright sitting.
