Mei Elliot

Mei Elliott is a Dharma Teacher in the Theravada tradition and co-director of Insight Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, CA, where she lives and practices.

Mei began meditating in 2004 and in 2014 entered residential monastic training at Tassajara Zen Monastery, where she received lay ordination from Linda Galijan. She went on to spend eight years training at San Francisco Zen Center, where she served as director and the lead facilitator for Young Urban Zen.

Mei is a graduate of Insight Meditation Center’s Dharma Teacher Training program, taught by Gil Fronsdal and Andrea Fella. She received her initial teaching authorization from James Baraz and was later empowered by Guy Armstrong and Sally Armstrong to teach the Still Heart of Awareness practices. She currently teaches meditation retreats at Spirit Rock, Insight Meditation Society, and Insight Retreat Center, and offers teachings at sanghas throughout the country.
