Description

Explore how aesthetic theory and narrative storytelling inform deeper levels of connectivity.

With one foot in the camp of science and the other in the realm of art, naturalist and painter Obi Kaufmann and Zen Center Abbot Ed Sattizhan will guide walking discussions reflecting on the living dynamics and deep-time ecology of central California in the context of biogeography. Each day will include meditation, a dharma talk, and demonstrations of nature journaling techniques; Obi will also coach artists of all levels on how they might better engage with the immediacy of their surroundings. This unique retreat allows plenty of time to relax into the wild beauty of the Tassajara wilderness.
