Saturday, 6 – 8 pm PT

In this global dialogue—and sharing of art—Fr. Cyprian Consiglio, Prior of the New Camaldoli Hermitage, a Benedictine community in Big Sur, and his old friend, Pico Iyer, will discuss how the contemplative traditions of East and West chime and diverge. They will share readings and songs. Fr. Cyprian is a singer–songwriter who has recorded over a dozen albums and performed across the world as well as being the author of three books on prayer and spirituality. Pico Iyer, the author of fifteen books, has spent more than thirty years writing about the temples of classical Japan and the transcendental literature of the West.

Pico will talk about his life between the temples of Kyoto and the Hermitage in Big Sur, while Fr. Cyprian will discuss the places where Zen and Christianity can learn from one another.
