Date / Time
April 30, 2023 / 10:00am - 4:00pm
Event Type
Workshops and Retreats
Description

The retreat will be onsite in the Wheelwright Center.

A daily writing practice and a consistent meditation practice have the power to ground and center us during difficult times. Writing gives us perspective and helps us make sense of the world. Mindfulness teaches us how to make space for the joy as well as the fear.

This one-day class invites participants of all experience levels to delve deeply into both practices.

Over the course of our day, we’ll use guided meditation and mindfulness exercises to cultivate the resources necessary to cope in times of crisis, as well as nourish our creativity. These will be combined with bursts of free writing—what Natalie Goldberg calls "writing practice"—to help us uncover our truest voice.

There will be opportunity to share our writing in a safe and supportive environment, as well as touch on various aspects of writing craft.

Every participant in the class will be given a one month’s membership in the daily writing app, Creative Caffeine Daily (a $40 value). Creative Caffeine Daily uses daily prompts and weekly partners to motivate and inspire writers. Find out more at Creative Caffeine Daily.

Please bring your favorite writing implements.

Lunch at Green Gulch is included.
