SUMMARY:Joyful Ease\, Your Own True Body\, GGF 7/30–8/2 – Waitlist Only
DESCRIPTION:Awaken a sense of fully embodied joy and ease through yoga asana\, breath\, and Zen meditation. \nIn this retreat we will leave behind our usual busy schedules and to-do lists and settle into a more contemplative routine. With two full days of classes and a half day to begin and end the retreat\, we will have time to allow nature to nurture us and to encounter the joy of “just this\,”—just this moment and all it contains. The retreat begins with the first yoga session at 4 pm in Stillwater Hall\, followed by dinner and a meeting for introductions and orientation. Zazen instruction will also be offered. \nPatricia will be co-leading this retreat with Branching Streams Director Heather Shōren Iarusso. Each day we’ll sit together in zazen and engage with Heather in Dharma talks and discussions. \nIn our morning yoga classes\, we will practice active poses taken from the Iyengar system as well as other influences. We will work deeply\, often spending time in poses in order to become sensitive to our inner workings. There will be long breaks for enjoying the land\, hiking to the beach\, etc. Afternoon classes will feature mostly floor stretches\, including restoratives\, with gentle pranayama (breath practices).  \nThe retreat ends with lunch on Sunday.

SUMMARY:The Path to Wholeness\, ZMC 8/4–8/9
DESCRIPTION:How might we relate to the demands and opportunities of life as teachings on how to live wholeheartedly? How do we heal our spirit and nourish our enthusiasm? \nThese powerful questions can help us discover the compassion and courage needed to address our challenges. Zen practice fosters a resilient and patient acceptance of the challenges that each of us faces. Within the soothing environment of Tassajara\, we will use meditation\, experiential and writing exercises\, poetry\, and Zen stories to stimulate insightful inquiry that can guide us in addressing our challenges and appreciating our life and the people in it.

SUMMARY:Courageous Heart\, Calm Mind: Living Intentionally Through Zen & Yoga\, GGF 8/5–8/9 – Waitlist Only
DESCRIPTION:Setting an intention is a powerful and conscious tool for transformation\, especially when intentions arise from a heartfelt vow or ideal that reflects our deepest values. When practicing Iyengar yoga and Zen meditation\, we aim to support our intentions with a steady yet resilient mind-body. Our focus is more on cultivating an internal state of being rather than achieving an external goal. \nAs challenges arise in our daily lives\, however\, we can lose contact with our innermost intentions. Deepening our practice of yoga and meditation can help us realign with our original goals. With a clear mind and a courageous heart\, we can find the inspiration and strength to once more attend to what is most important to us. \nWith a lighthearted approach\, Letitia will help us express the poses fully and with joy.  David will encourage us to connect to our natural state of confidence\, insight\, and equanimity. All levels of yoga and meditation experience are welcome.

SUMMARY:How Does My Love for Life Want to Express Itself? A Sensory Awareness Workshop\, ZMC 8/11–8/16
DESCRIPTION:Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive\, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.—Howard Thurman \n\nWhen we focus on how our love for life wants to express itself\, it opens a vital\, unfolding path. Rather than being trapped or overwhelmed by what we cannot do\, this love guides us into what we can do. \nDuring our time together in this workshop we will cultivate the inner quiet to discover both what hinders our expression of love and what awakens it. \nSensory Awareness practice connects us to the simplicity and depth of our own present moment experience. Meeting ourselves with compassion and openness is healing and renewing\, and strengthens our capacity to bring calm\, clarity\, and loving responsiveness to our changing world.

SUMMARY:Deep Rest in Zen and Yoga: Learning to Let Go\, ZMC 8/11–8/16
DESCRIPTION:Deep Rest is a skill many of us haven’t been taught—but deeply need. With regular practice of Deep Rest\, we can learn how to allow mind and body to readily transition from their everyday activated (sympathetic) state to a parasympathetic mode. Deep Rest is a state of body and mind that is mentally and physically in repose\, and one that brings balance and ease to our experience of life. Entering Deep Rest\, one experiences a profound stillness that is sustained without strain\, one that supports the cultivation of meditative tranquility. \nIn this Deep Rest Retreat\, within the beauty and serenity of Tassajara\, we will practice letting go in Restorative Yoga postures\, expand our breathing practice in pranayama (yogic breathing)\, and explore Buddhist teachings relating to the practice of tranquility on and off the cushion. There will also be time each day for walks\, a swim\, bathing in the hot springs\, and delicious vegetarian meals.

SUMMARY:The Reset Retreat: Bringing the Joy of Dharma to Your Work and Life\, GGF 8/12–8/14
DESCRIPTION:The Reset Retreat offers an immersive\, device-free environment to help you cultivate the qualities of mind and communication skills that lead to well-being and success—at work\, with money\, and in life. Given how much of our lives we spend working\, this retreat is designed to bring joy\, purpose\, and flow to the moments that shape so much of who we are. \nThe retreat spans just 48 hours—short enough to fit your schedule\, yet long enough for a real shift. Past participants have described the experience as “timeless.” Set in the breathtaking Marin Headlands just north of San Francisco at Green Gulch Farm\, you’ll have space to truly unplug\, reset your nervous system\, and discover the clarity and wisdom that emerge from stillness. \nThis is an invitation to stop reacting to your life and start living it. To shift from busyness as a default to intentionally cultivating your most important asset: your presence. \nOver the course of the retreat\, you’ll hike through the headlands\, share organic meals\, practice meditation techniques designed for real life\, move between collective silence and catalytic conversation\, experience a restorative sound bath\, and walk to the ocean. \nWe welcome those new to meditation as well as those with decades of experience.
