City Center Buddha Hall
San Francisco Zen Center will be hosting a very special gathering to honor Mitsu Suzuki Sensei, the wife of Suzuki Roshi, haiku poet, teacher of the Japanese tea ceremony for many of us, and teacher/friend/mother to many more. After Suzuki Roshi passed away in 1971, Suzuki sensei stayed at the San Francisco Zen Center for 22 years, carrying on her husband’s work by manifesting the spirit of Zen in everyday life.
We will start at 3:00 pm in the Buddha Hall with a short tea ceremony and have Japanese green tea and sweet cake for all attending. This will be followed by a time us to send Suzuki Sensei our memories and well wishes which will be videoed and sent to her. This April in Japan, she will be turning 99 and in our way of counting, 100.
She will also be sending us a video of herself which we will show in the dining room and then we will have a vegetarian Japanese Bento Box dinner.
Please come if you can. The cost is $25.00 and we will need to receive your check for that before Friday March 29th to order what will be needed. Please make it out to Mary Watson and send to her at 340 Page Street, #301, SF, CA 94102. Please consider joining us.
