Friendship: The Quintessential Practice of all the Buddhas, CC 6/8/13

Saturday, June 8, 2013
with Venerable Dr. Pannavati

Public Dharma Talk
10 - 11 am
In the Buddha Hall at 300 Page Street

1 - 4:30 pm
In the Conference Center at 308 Page Street

Relationships form based on many factors. Underlying our rational assumptions of who is "friend" or "enemy" or what types of people we "like" or "dislike" are subtle factors, karmic influences, and unrecognized perceptions based on the six senses. Using stories from the sutras and our personal experiences, we will dissect the phenomenon of "encounter." Tools will be discussed to assess and build relationships that nurture our spiritual aspiration and deepest stillness, yet without considering anyone unworthy of our full attention.

This half-day workshop will alternate between discussion and reflection, building upon the morning dharma talk (although the workshop can stand alone). Everyone is welcome to join us for the Dharma talk in the morning and also to register for the practice afternoon with Ven. Dr. Pannavati Bhikkuni.

Fees:  $50; $45 current SFZC members; $40 limited income. Some scholarships are available; see About Registration, Scholarships, and Cancellations. No one turned away for lack of funds.

To Register: Use the Ticket Table below. Or call our toll free number 888.743.9362 or our local number 415.475.9362.

A guest speaker at Buddhafest in Washington DC this year, and returning next year, in 2013, she also guest teaches at many communities including Insight NY and Spirit Rock’s CDL program.
