Summer Work Practice

April 6 - September 13, 2015

The Summer Work Practice Program provides a wonderful opportunity for living and working within a community where the foundation is Zen meditation. The focus of our practice in the summer is work. Life here is intense and physically demanding, requiring a high degree of self-discipline and self-motivation. At the same time, work practice offers many opportunities for studying the self, cultivating dharma relationships with other students and teachers, and practicing in a deeply supportive natural environment. Tassajara’s work-practice approach is based on the teachings of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi.

Applications are currently being accepted, and space is still available for summer work practice. For women, we currently have space from June 12 to July 17, August 1 to 8, and August 18 to September 14. For men, we have space from July 19 to 26 and August 1 to September 14.

However, things are continually changing, so please send an application for whatever dates work for you. If nothing is available when we receive your application, you will be first on the waiting list should something open up.  Please wait to send any fees until we have confirmed that there is space.
