Discover the awakening practices at the heart of religious traditions.

Awakening the heart and mind has taken many forms throughout the centuries. Now, here in the United States, it is being shaped by both Eastern and Western influences. Brother David Steindl-Rast, a life-long Benedictine monk, and former City  Center Abbot, Ryushin Paul Haller will offer a variety of practices to help reveal the similarities and differences between Zen and Christianity. Meditation and prayer, faith and spiritual authenticity, and awakening and salvation are among the many topics that will be explored by practicing and talking together.

Retreat fee: $520 ($442/Member)

Brother David Steindl-Rast

Brother David Steindl-Rast (Christian) is a life-long Benedictine monk. His Zen teachers include HakuunYasutani Roshi, Shunryu Suzuki Roshi, and Eido Shimano Roshi. Brother David serves a worldwide Network for Grateful Living.

Ryushin Paul Haller

Ryushin Paul Haller, former City Center Abbot, has taught Zen, mindfulness, and meditation for over 25 years throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has created programs that assist with depression and substance abuse, has taught in prisons, and has a long involvement with the Zen Hospice Project. He has been practicing yoga for over 25 years.
