Fire Watch: 07/10/2008

Here are the active fire maps 7-10-08 as of 7 am. 

New detections occurred last night around 3:45 am for the Aqua satellite and around 11:45 pm for the Terra satellite.  All detections mentioned are new within the last 12 hours and represent a different set of detections from the previous update.  All reported distances are from Tassajara unless otherwise indicated.

There are 22 new detections up Church creek all but 8 on its eastern flank.  The closest of these to the road are around 0.5 miles away. This includes detections 0.57 miles from the road just below the bathtub and 0.5 miles from the road just South of China camp.

There are 2 other detections 0.43 miles due West from the 2nd overlook on Tassajara Road and 1 detection 0.5 miles EAST of Tassajara Road about 4.0 miles up the road from Tassajara.

There are 8 new detections up Tassajara creek 7 of which range from 1.8 to 2.6 miles away and 1 of which is 0.5 miles from Tassajara (i.e. the USGS marker at the Zendo).

There are 6 new detections in the Oriyoki bowl near the western headwaters and more central in the bowl 1.8 to 2.7 miles distant.

There are 6 new detections in the valley just West of Tassajara valley, 4.1 to 5.0 miles away.

There are 4 new detections to the South in Willow creek at distances of 1.9 to 2.1 miles.  These detections are just 0.35 miles South of the confluence of the Willow and Tassajara creeks.

There are NO new detections to the East in the Indian's fire.

There are 3 new detections to the far South at distances between 9.3 and 9.4 miles.

There are many new detections to the far Northwest between 10.2 and 16.5 miles away.  These closest of these to Jamesburg is 4.45 miles.

I've included yesterdays forest service burn map which was accurate as of 5 pm Wednesday the 9th of July.
