Hosted by Zen Center Central Abbess Eijun Linda Ruth Cutts and the SFZC Alumni Steering Committee
Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14, 2014
This year we are very pleased to be able to offer SFZC alumni another opportunity to gather at Tassajara. Our 50th anniversary retreat two years ago was extremely well received, and this year’s program will offer a similar opportunity for alumni to reconnect and practice together in the valley. Program offerings over the course of the retreat will include morning and evening zazen, traditional Soto Zen services, dharma presentations, group discussions and activities. All events will be optional, and there will be plenty of unstructured time to connect with old and new friends, hike, bathe in the hot springs, rest and simply enjoy the treasure that is Tassajara. A more detailed schedule of events will be available at a later date.
The four-day/three-night retreat is open to anyone who is not
currently an SFZC resident and has completed a practice period or three-week intensive at either Tassajara, City Center or Green Gulch Farm, or received jukai from an SFZC-affiliated teacher. Fees
Fees listed below include accommodations, meals, sittings, events and use of facilities for 3 nights/4 days:
Adults: $121/person per night, whether traveling alone or with family ($363 per person for the 3-night retreat).* Registration
Children: $53/child per night, age 4-11; age 3 and younger is free.
*Please note: In order to house as many people as possible with the limited space available, in general we cannot accommodate requests for single/private rooms. We want to do our best to ensure that any room with three beds will be housing three people.
Guest Practice Option: While we are not in a position to offer scholarship spots this year via the reservations system, there is a lower-cost option to attend as a guest-practice student, at the standard rate of $68/night ($204 per person for the three-night retreat). Seven spots have currently been set aside at that rate, and we will do our best to arrange events that work around the Guest Practice Program schedule if needed. Please note that we will hold these slots as long as feasible, but will need to open them up to full-cost bookings if all other spaces get filled, so reserve soon.
Donations: Zen Center is offering this retreat opportunity to alumni at a reduced rate, so if you are willing and able, donations on top of the requested rate are much appreciated.
Call 1-888-743-9362 (toll free) or 415-475-9362 (local). Space is limited, so please be sure to book soon.
