Vegetables are our specialty, and yes, so is bread. Our day's fixed menu is posted each morning outside the dining room. Gluten and dairy are noted on our menus.
Breakfast rotates each day: eggs or tofu; pancakes, scones, or breads and is always served with fruit and hot cereal (often oats, but occasionally rice, amaranth, or polenta).
Lunch in the dining room is served buffet style: soup, salad, and bread. The soup is usually vegan. Alternatively, you can make a bag lunch between 9:30-10:15am. Bag lunch is a selection of vegetarian gourmet spreads, fruit, hardboiled eggs as well as vegetables, nuts, cheeses, breads and cookies.
Dinner has the widest variety of possibility, the main feature being a homestyle or ethnic vegetable dish, grain, salad, and other complements. Dessert (often gluten) is offered every evening.
For people who have food intolerances, allergies, or other sensitivities, we offer a supplement to the dinner meal: a dish of plain cooked rice, plain cooked vegetable, and plain tofu. Known as the Restricted Diet, it must be arranged for in advance from our Stone Office. We do not provide this supplement for breakfast and lunch meals.
While we don't provide gluten alternatives to our grains, generally people find that there are sufficient gluten-free foods offered at each meal. If you are concerned that we will not provide enough sustenance for you, you are welcome to bring your own meal supplements and store them in our guest refrigerator (though there is limited space). Because of our little mountain critters, we ask that guests not keep food stored in their cabin. Guest use of our kitchen is not permitted.
