Memorials and Legacies
There are many ways to support San Francisco Zen Center. These include general donations, membership and legacy giving.
Legacy giving is a term that covers a range of charitable giving which allows you to support San Francisco Zen Center (SFZC) with a lasting, positive impact that continues far beyond your lifetime. These include:
We established the Dharma Lamp Circle to thank and honor those who make a legacy gift to SFZC and thus help ensure we can continue to offer the Buddha’s teachings and the practice of zazen for future generations. If you inform Zen Center of your legacy gift, you will be acknowledged – publicly or privately as you choose – and invited to join the special activities of the Dharma Lamp Circle.
If you have already remembered SFZC in your will, retirement or estate plans, please email our Development Director, Nancy Petrin, who can also answer any questions you might have about legacy giving and joining the Dharma Lamp Circle. Email:firstname.lastname@example.org
You may also honor a loved one with a donation to San Francisco Zen Center in his or her memory.
We will list both Dharma Lamp Circle members and Memorial Gifts on our website. You may send a check made out to San Francisco Zen Center to the attention of Nancy Petrin, Development Director, 300 Page Street, San Francisco, CA 94102. Please include a note with the name of the person you would like to honor with your memorial gift.
Zenkei Blanche Hartman Memorial Fund
To celebrate and honor Blanche, we have established a memorial fund in her name. The fund will be used to support the renovation of a new sewing room at City Center. Blanche could be found regularly in the City Center Sewing Room helping students to sew their rakasu or okesa, as well as passing on the practice to other sewing teachers who followed in her footsteps.
