Year-End Appeal 2013

A Year-End Letter from the Abbots

Although we say that mountains belong to the country, actually they belong to those who love them.
—Eihei Dogen, Mountains and Waters Sutra

Photo: Shundo David Haye Dear Dharma Friend,

Like Dogen’s beloved mountains, San Francisco Zen Center’s three temples also belong to those who love them. Nurtured in their silences we find repose, and in their human warmth we find sanctuary, true friends, and restorative inspiration. We find the compass that re-directs us to live in harmony with all beings.

The character for “love” as used by Dogen also means “to care for something.”  When we love something we naturally want to care for it.

There are many ways to express your love of Zen Center. Caring for Zen Center by giving financial support is a way of demonstrating your love and appreciation for the dharma and the teachers, the people, programs and places that enrich so many lives. With this year end message, we thank you for your countless kind contributions in the past and invite you to continue your generous offering of support.

In deep gratitude,

Myogen Steve Stücky
Zen Center Central Abbot
Eijun Linda Cutts
Abiding Abbess,

Kiku Christina Lehnherr

P.S. Your financial support helped to create Zen Center and we hope that you will continue to give generously now and in the future.
