New Year’s Retreat 2017 – 2018, GGF 12/27 – 1/1

Led by MyoĒ Doris Harder and Yeshi Neumann
in Stillwater Hall

Begins Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 4:00 pm
Ends Monday, January 1, 2018, at 11:00 am

This retreat held in the last days of the year offers a time of quiet and community, with a gentle schedule allowing for rest, reading and walking to nearby Muir Beach and in the hills surrounding Green Gulch Farm. Participants are invited to join the Green Gulch community in the daily schedule of early morning meditation, service, temple cleaning and breakfast. After a break, we will come together for a period of meditation, followed by a morning class.

This year our morning class will be focusing around the teachings of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. The classes will be led by MyoE Doris Harder. In conversations we will consider how these teachings speak to us in our lives. We will work as well imaginatively, writing, reading aloud and  listening. Our time together will be intimate and playful.

This year’s retreat will offer qigong sessions led by Yeshi Neumann.

The afternoon is open for quiet reflection, hiking, reading and rest or you may do volunteer work with a crew  and become familiar with our residential life at GGF. We will meet again for the evening meal at 6:00 pm.

This retreat includes the Green Gulch New Year's Eve Celebration. We end the retreat on the morning of January 1 with a toast at the Suzuki Roshi Memorial Site, followed by breakfast.
