Dear Community Member,
I hope this finds you well and enjoying these glorious, golden autumn days.
Please accept my deepest gratitude to all of you who recently responded to our September Green Gulch Farm update. If you haven’t yet sent in your gift, I strongly urge you to consider the important impact that it will make and the many people that it will benefit, and
make a donation now.
I want to share with you a link to a wonderful slideshow of farm activity this past summer, and some of the amazing things about Green Gulch Farm which are supported by your generosity.
Did you know that
- Green Gulch Farm (GGF), one of the first non-profit teaching farms to be certified organic, has been a leader in offering public programs in meditation, applied ecology, environmental restoration, and organic agriculture for more than 30 years.
- For the past 15 years GGF has offered a six-month long apprenticeship program in organic agriculture and meditation for up to 10 participants who live in residence and follow the complete meditation schedule while working a full day on the farm.
- To date, more than 150 graduates of this apprenticeship program have returned to public service, trained in meditation practice and the fundamentals of organic agriculture.
Did you know that
- Over 40 different vegetables were cultivated and harvested this year including; 25,548 heads of lettuce, 7,828 bunches of kale, and over 3 tons of potatoes!
- During the growing season, GGF organic produce and home-baked bread is available to local CSA subscribers in Muir Beach, at the Rainbow Grocery in San Francisco, the Mill Valley Farmer’s Market, and the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market in San Francisco, one of the largest public markets in the United States.
Did you know that
- GGF shares the harvest with those who are hungry though participating in an active network of food security support by local soup kitchens, food banks, and Farm to School gleaning harvests co-sponsored by Marin Organic.
Did you know that
- Green Gulch farm and garden are always open to the public, offering a place of refuge and restoration for all who come to visit and enjoy the contemplative atmosphere.
And Most Importantly, Did You Know that
None of this would be possible without your dedication, effort, and financial support!
I invite you to please give as generously as you can so that these and many more vital programs and community offerings can continue to flourish and be available to all.
Thank You!
