This one-day workshop will put equal emphasis on theory and practice. Participants will help mix a batch of yeasted bread, shape the dough, and take home a freshly baked loaf. We'll study the fundamental principles of fermentation that will enable us to make sense of any bread recipe, including the ones we'd like to create ourselves. Fees:
$75; $67 current members; $60 limited income.

Mick Sopko started practicing at Zen Center in 1977. He received lay dharma entrustment from Zoketsu Norman Fischer in 2005 and has held various positions at Green Gulch including head of the meditation hall, co-director, and, currently, bread baker.
