This lecture and discussion will focus on what set the stage for Dogen's own presentation of zazen in his meditation manuals, most famously the Fukanzazengi and the Shobogenzo.

Uji is Dogen's attempt to lead us to productively and dynamically explore the true nature of reality through the lens of our being/time. This lecture will look at Uji as a practice guide whose purpose is to radically change our experience of our being/time as well as the being/time of all beings.

Regular Saturday schedule, beginning with 6:30 am zazen.

New Year's Eve at City Center
December 31, 2014
This event begins at 8:30 pm with a work meeting followed by temple cleaning. Noodle soup is served at 10:00. The han begins at 10:30 to signal zazen at 10:45. There will be two periods of zazen and the ringing of the densho 108 times. The night ends with a bonfire in the courtyard. Donations are appreciated.
