We meet one another as buddhas in the zendo. Coming from the silence of zazen, how can we bring that awareness to our interactions with one another, to how we speak and how we listen? This class will focus on communicating with openness and curiosity. We will begin with the Buddha’s teachings on beneficial speech, practice with the precepts related to speech, and explore some contemporary teachings related to listening and speaking with awareness and empathy. We will also shine the light of mindful communication on some difficult conversations we may wish to have. This class is open to anyone who wishes to delve deeper into this necessary, challenging and rewarding aspect of practice.

Class fees; five class meetings:
$75; $67 current SFZC members; $60 limited income.
