Many of us can benefit from new ways of finding calm and balance. We invite you to join us for two days in the beautiful Green Gulch valley to discover internal resources that will support efficient relaxation and restoration of your body, mind, and emotions.

By developing skills based on mindfulness of the body, we learn to meet and gently release stuck survival energies -- fight, flight, and freeze -- and settle our nervous system into balance and flow. These practices can benefit anyone experiencing everyday stress, as well as those who may have unresolved traumatic stress. Because these practices cut through discursive thought, they can also help deepen meditative practice.

This two-day workshop includes and builds upon our popular one-day workshop “Meeting Trauma and Finding Balance.” Skills taught and practiced will be based primarily on Somatic Experiencing®, developed by Dr. Peter Levine, and will include other somatic approaches such as movement, iRest Yoga Nidra, walking meditation, partnered touch, self- and mutual co-regulation of the nervous system.

The workshop is primarily experiential and will make self-care/self-regulation the priority. It includes short presentations, optional exercises with the group and in dyads, meditation, and guided relaxation. There is also time to enjoy the restorative environment at Green Gulch and the rich resource of the land, supporting you to return home refreshed and balanced, with new skills for meeting your life more fully.

Fee: $220, $198 current SFZC members, $176 limited income. A delicious organic vegetarian lunch in the Green Gulch dining room is included. For overnight accommodations please call the Green Gulch office at 415-383-3134.

($25 administration fee for CEUs—see note.*)
