The Ecopoetics of Water
Healy Hamilton & Brenda Hillman
Director of the Center for Applied Biodiversity Informatics at the California Academy of Sciences, Healy Hamilton’s research interests range from the effect of climate change on biodiversity to the conservation of certain groups of aquatic organisms, including river dolphins, seahorses, pipefish, and octopuses.
Poet, professor, and activist, Brenda Hillman’s latest book, Practical Water, like her celebrated volumes, Cascadia and Pieces of Air in the Epic, is both an elemental meditation and an ecopoetics. She is the Olivia Filippi Professor of Poetry at St. Mary’s College.
