Help Needed for Tassajara’s
Summer Guest Season!
One of our Zen founders Eihei Dogen, is known to have said, “The Way-seeking mind is actualized by rolling up your sleeves.” Come awaken Way-seeking mind and roll up your sleeves at Tassajara.
The Tassajara Summer Work Practice Program is a wonderful opportunity for living and working in a community where Zen meditation is the central practice. The daily schedule includes meditation in the morning and evening. There are lectures and classes on Buddhism, and opportunities for individual interviews with practice leaders. Our work focuses on taking care of our many summer guests as well as on general upkeep and maintenance of the monastery. Work areas include the kitchen, dining room, housekeeping, grounds and general maintenance.
You can join us anytime from April to September—come for five days, a month, or the whole summer! Those who commit to staying 3 or 5 months or longer earn credit for 1 or 2 practice periods at City Center, Green Gulch Farm, or Tassajara. To apply, you must be 18 years of age.
For more information and to print an application, please visit our website at www.sfzc.org/tassajara. (Direct link to summer work practice information.) If you have questions, call (831) 659-2229, or e-mail Tassajara@sfzc.org
