Ivory Madison is an author, editor and publisher who lives conveniently close to the San Francisco Zen Center. She was named “Best Writing Coach” by San Francisco
magazine for her work personally helping countless writers unleash their stories over the past decade. She founded and served as CEO of the Red Room Writers Society, and later Red Room, an international community for thousands of authors, including Amy Tan, Salman Rushdie, and the late Maya Angelou. . Red Room was acquired by Wattpad, the world’s largest communities of writers and readers. Ivory has guest-lectured to faculty and writing coaches at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and delivered keynote addresses at programs including the Stanford Writers Conference, University of Southern California Writers Conference and the Independent Book Publishers Association. She has been a featured expert on writing, entrepreneurship and the future of publishing at conferences including the Digital Publishing Innovation Summit, Writers Digest West, Exceptional Women in Publishing, the Stanford Publishing Course and the Lean Startup Conference. A former management consultant to startups (Serena and Lily) and Fortune 500 companies (Gap Inc.), she also holds a juris doctorate, and served as editor in chief of her school’s law review. She is the only author published by the Harvard Business Review, Oxford University Press and DC Comics. A featured author at Litquake and having served on the Litquake Committee, she recently joined the leadership team of the Bay Area Book Festival and cofounded a small press.
