Living with the Tenzokyokun (class), CC 6/19 – 7/10

With Shundo David Haye
In the Sangha Room

    Four Tuesdays, June 19 – July 10, 7:30 – 9 pm

How can a text written for 13th Century Japanese monastics help us with our lives today? In this four-week class, we will look closely at one of Dogen's more accessible works, and see how he used old Zen stories and poems, as well as his own youthful encounters with Chinese monks, to craft clear instructions for the head cook of his temple. We will find how we can transform these guidelines into lessons for living a meaningful and rewarding life.

Open to both beginners and experienced practitioners.

Fees: $80; $72 current SFZC members; $48 limited income. Some partial scholarships available.
