Entering the Buddha Way

The Buddha Way, the path of awakening, is cultivated and expressed through Sila, Samadhi and Prajna, ie, Discipline, Continuous Awareness and Wisdom. These attributes of practice help us contact our experience and discover how to alleviate suffering and live more authentically.

This practice period will offer a variety of practices designed to engage these three foundational practices both for those who will practice primarily at City Center and those who will practice at home, accessing the Dharma talks and classes online.

Sila, the conduct of awakening, is expressed through wholeheartedly engaging the activities of the day. The practice schedule of the Center will include: Samadhi, continuous contact with the flow of experience, is cultivated through bringing attention and full awareness to every activity of the day.

Prajna, seeing clearly the true nature of what is, arises as the conditioned, ever-changing characteristic of existence is experienced. This insightful arising is stimulated by individual interviews with the teachers, self-reflection, group discussion and teachings on the Buddha Way.

The practice period begins with an orientation on the evening of Monday, September 23. The first one-day sitting is on Saturday, September 28. The practice period includes three one-day sittings and concludes with the seven-day Rohatsu Sesshin, December 1-7.
