Christine Bailey received a Master's of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. She works in various media including drawing and painting, video, installation and new media. She has exhibited nationally in solo and group shows at numerous museums and galleries including The Contemporary Museum in Baltimore, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington and Rhisome.org at the New Museum, NY. Her recent projects have been reviewed in print publications such as The Washington Post and in online media including the Art21 blog. Recent awards include Maryland State Arts Council awards for Works on Paper and Photography, a Faculty Development Grant from the Corcoran College of Art and Design. She was selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious Sondheim Prize in 2010. Most recently, Christine’s work and research has focused on the politics and aesthetics of representations of the landscape through drawing, video installation, and the use of online virtual worlds as interactive art spaces and fictive locations of self. She believes that everyone can learn to draw and has taught all ages and levels of art students, most recently as a faculty member at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington D.C.
