Sesshin means to collect the heart-mind. Traditional Soto Zen meditation retreats include oryoki meals, daily dharma talks, sitting and walking meditation, and private interviews with senior teachers.

Saturday, March 21: Evening orientation for sesshin
  • Oryoki instruction 5 pm
  • Dinner 6 pm
  • Orientation for all participants 7:30 pm
Meals are included in the cost of sesshin. However, to receive your meals, you will need an oryoki set. You may bring your own or rent an oryoki set for the duration of sesshin. If you would like to rent oryoki, please add the rent oryoki set fee to your reservation. To purchase your own oryoki set, contact the City Center Ino by email (ccino@sfzc.org).

Deadline: Please register by Thursday, March 19, noon.

Anshin Rosalie Curtis
Anshin Rosalie Curtis came to Zen Center for the first time on January 2, 1982 for a Saturday Dharma talk. She has held various staff and officer positions and was Zen Center's graphic designer for ten years in the 1990s. She completed her shuso training as a lay practitioner in 2004, was ordained as a priest a year later, and received Dharma transmission from Michael Wenger in 2011. Currently she is the tanto, head of practice, at City Center.

Jisan Tova Green
Jisan Tova Green, LCSW, currently serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President of San Francisco Zen Center. Previously she held positions as City Center Director and as a hospice social worker. A practice leader at San Francisco Zen Center, Tova co-founded Zen Center's Queer Dharma Group.
