Is happiness just for suckers? Or are there Buddhist teachings that can help support us in becoming happier practitioners of the Way? Find out the surprising answer in this one-day retreat. We will consider recent research on happiness, as well as Buddhist insights of old. Short periods of sitting and walking meditation will be offered, as well as lecture and discussion.
We will enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch in the Green Gulch dining room. Please bring writing materials. Comfortable clothes and slip on shoes suggested. Fees:
$80; $72 current SFZC members; $64 limited income.

Ryuko Laura Burges
Ryuko Laura Burges, a lay entrusted Buddhist teacher in the Soto Zen tradition, lectures and leads retreats at different practice centers in Northern California. A teacher of children for 30 years, she also trains teachers to bring mindfulness practice into elementary classrooms. Laura co-founded the Sangha in Recovery program at Zen Center. She is the abiding teacher at the Lenox House meditation group in Oakland.
