Taishun Yoshii

Taishun Yoshii is a "Specially Dispatched Teacher" from Sotoshu, the central governing body of the Soto Zen School in Japan, an appointment he has held since 2004. He is also the resident teacher of Fumonji Temple in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. He received Zen training in the mid-1970s at Myokoji Monastery in Fukuoka Prefecture and Chokokuji Monastery in Tokyo. Having studied physical science at Nihon University, he has also taught elementary and middle school. In addition, last year he received certification as an instructor of macrobiotic cooking. His appearance at San Francisco Zen Center is part of his first trip to the United States conveying messages from Sotoshu's head priest.
